On Monday, the 18th of June 2018, the MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Lebogang Maile  officially launched the Bear Grip (Pty) Ltd T/A Abear Industrial. The entity supplies high quality, durable and reliable pulley lagging to the Mining and Conveyor Belting Industry, reducing the frequency of Conveyor System downtime related to excessive conveyor belt wear and pulley lagging failure. And in the process, support the local manufacturing industry through the use of local manufactured and supplied raw materials and capital equipment.

GEP hosted a training session for SMME’s within the footwear sector on Friday the 16th of February at the GEP headquarters. The purpose of the training was to assist the SMME’s in combating the factors that contribute to the failure rate within this sector

GEP hosted an Open Day for the community of Munsieville in order to provide non-financial and financial support

The Gauteng Provincial Government hosted the South Africa/Italy Summit ( Co-Operatives Seminar) on the 26th of October at Sunnyside Park Hotel in Parktown, under the theme – Developing Co-Ops for success.The purpose of the summit was to strengthen strategic and business relations between South Africa and Italy whilst exploring business development opportunities. Italy is among the top investors in Africa and its total trade with the continent is fast growing.
